Receive C.E.U.'s, SCCJA Credit hours and just great training.

 

The Criminal Justice Academy (CJA) will award 29 Continuing Law Enforcement credit hours for full conference attendance. 

 

At the end of the conference, participants will receive an individualized printout that lists their number of hours attended.  This copy should be given to the SRO's training officer.  SCASRO will provide a copy to the CJA.

 

Greenville Technical College will also provide some credit hours for attendance.  A representative will provide these forms to participants at the beginning of the conference.

  • Child Abuse / Sexual Predator (General Session)

    How can we protect our children from abuse from sexual predators?  Come together to learn how to identify abuse indicators and protect our children.

  • Gangs and Gang Trends in South Carolina (General Session)

    It’s not a matter of if your school(s) currently has gang issues, but when…and are you prepared.  Our best defense is to educate our Law Enforcement Agencies, School Officials, and others in an effort to curtail a major problem that has the potential to wreak havoc in our schools. 

    Please join us as we take a comprehensive look at Street Gangs across the State of S.C.  . Our host will consist of local gang experts and other invited guess.  We will also entertain a panel discussion on the latest trends and successful methods of control. 

     

  • D.A.R.E.  Updates  (for certified D.A.R.E. Officers) 

     A new school curriculum that counters abuse of prescription and over the counter drugs. The curriculum is comprised of  components for students as well as presentations for parents.

     

  • Rapid Deployment/Active Shooter (Classroom)

    Since April 20, 1999 law enforcement has had to change procedures on how they respond to situations. There’s no time to wait for S.W.A.T. Officers have to enter the building. Learn the techniques of “Rapid Deployment” of an active shooter situation. If you are already familiar with “Rapid Deployment” join us and

    practice. We can never have enough training

     

  • Rapid Deployment/Active Shooter (Practical's)

    The is the hands on portion of the class. The meat and potatoes of “Rapid Deployment”. Please report to Myrtle Beach High School with your duty belt and flashlight by 08:00 hrs

     

  • Computer Crimes and Internet Safety

    What is the biggest dangers facing the largest number of children today?  The internet gives predators easy access to our children daily.  Learn about what is going on in our state and what is being done to combat it. Learn strategies to keep our children safe from others and themselves.

     

  • De-Escalating Special Needs Students Quickly and Safely!

    Have you ever had a special needs student that was emotionally out of control?  Have you contemplated which technique to use to de-escalate the situation with the least amount of physical force?  Come to this workshop to learn new strategies to use with special needs students!

     

  • Drug Updates (General Session)

    The presentation will cover current drug trends among middle and high school students.. Drugs of interest will include marijuana, dextromethorphane,  methamphetamines, ecstasy,  (MDMA, MDA, MDEA,  others) diviner’s sage, (Salvia divinorum), as well as other prescription and over the counter drugs. Clinical effects and signs of drug use will also be covered in this presentation

     

  • Crisis Management  "Beyond the Basics"  (General Session) 

    *Beyond the Basics: Taking the core principles and utilizing technology to develop your crisis management planning at the next level.  This course will provide information and resources regarding a variety of applications for use in enhancing your crisis planning efforts.

     

  • What we can do to reduce Truancy. (General Sessions)

    Explore the truancy laws of South Carolina and learn the strategies to help students be on time and present at school each day!

    SCASRO would like to have more participation from educators throughout the state at this year's conference.

     

    In response, the South Carolina Department of Education is partnering with SCASRO to offer 10 registration scholarships for educators to attend the conference.

     

    There will be two registration scholarships awarded from each of the four SCASRO regions plus two at large registration scholarships
