For years, we have discussed the importance of being prepared
through safety and crisis management planning. However, one of the
greatest challenges we face in being prepared is complacency. Schools
often find it hard to justify resources for crisis planning because it is easier
to believe "It won't happen here". Schools often find many competing
priorities with curriculum demands, and crisis planning usually gets pushed
farther towards the periphery.

The South Carolina Association of School
Resource Officers understands the importance of being prepared. Our officers
have been involved in incidents and training and possess the experience and
knowledge to assist our colleagues. We would like to help you. It is not
necessary to re-create the work in place in many districts across our state.
SCASRO is taking the lead
role and offering training in Crisis Management Planning for school
personnel, crisis team members, bus drivers, public safety officials,
and mental health workers.
