L. P. “Buddy” DeVinney has been in law enforcement for 31 years.  He has been with the York County Sheriff’s Department for the past 15 years.  During his time there he has held the titles of Narcotics officer, Shift Sergeant, Shift Lieutenant, and—for the past four years—School Resource Officer at Rock Hill High School.

 Prior to joining the York County Sheriff’s Department, DeVinney was with the Rock Hill Police Department.  Throughout the 16 years he spent there he held the titles of Patrolman, Corporal, Investigator, Detective, Sergeant, and 1st Sergeant. 

 Additional Experience and Education:

 -          S.W.A.T. Team Leader and advisor for 22 years between the two departments.

-          Continuing Education consists of various law enforcement certifications from 7 colleges and universities.

-          Has been a driving instructor and a firearms/weapons instructor for 18 years.

-          Since 1988 he’s served as a member of a Federal Violent Crimes Task Force, where he’s received commendations from US Customs officials, Drug Enforcement Administration, and several others.
