On May 18, 2006, the Carolina Forest
Education Complex (Middle and High School) made national news
when 24 year-old Edwin Cornelius stabbed to death his 18
year-old girlfriend Natalia Allison Holmes in a school parking
lot.
The murder occurred around 7:40 a.m. at the student drop off loop of Carolina Forest Middle School. The victim was enrolled as a student at the high school that is on the same campus. Many parents and middle school students witnessed the murder since it was prime-time for morning school arrival
