Juvenile domestic violence is a growing concern among educators and school resource officers.  Understand the dynamics of juvenile domestic violence and learn to strategies to reduce these behaviors.

Come together to learn the identification factors of users of methamphetamines and the indicators of children living in families of methamphetamine abuse.

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Brain Chemistry and How It Affects Youth Behavior

 Learn about  the five key brain chemicals and how each influences behaviors, moods ad performance of students. A basic understanding of the brain’s “reward center” will be given through relevant examples of youth behaviors.

1:00 am - 4:00 pm  After the Tragedy : Crisis Recovery

The longest and most trying part of a tragedy is the crisis recovery period.  Learn how to reduce the tension and manage this part of a school tragedy effectively.

8:00 am - 9:00 am Mandatory Reporting for Child Abuse and Neglect

Learn how the law protects mandated reporters and defines penalties for failure to report.  Explore the factors used writing a report for abuse situations and the importance of a forensic interview.

9:00 am - 12:00 pm Avoiding Liability Situations:  Civil Liability for Educators and School Resource Officers

“My lawyer will be calling you”!  This is heard with more and more frequency in our South Carolina schools.  Learn how to effectively avoid these liability situations and what part you play in the civil liability process.

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm How to Effectively   Interact with Today’s Youth

Working with today’s youth can be challenging!  Learn new strategies for decreasing the power struggles and increasing excellent student behavior and achievement.

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Preventive Strategies for Working with Emotionally Disabled/Aggressive Youth

Understand the specific characteristics of emotionally disabled or aggressive youth and what strategies to use when de-escalating a violent or combative situation.

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Truancy Prevention and Alternative Programs

The South Carolina truancy laws impact the success of students in our schools.  Learn the specifics of the law and school-wide strategies to put in place to prevent truancy.

Registration Fee after       March 8th, 2007 = $250.00

One day registration - $75.00

 

Registration  Fee includes membership to SCASRO or SCDARE, and one ticket to the awards banquet. Additional tickets may be purchased for $35.00. if you wish to join both organizations please check below and include an additional check , money order or Purchase Order for $25.00 to SC D.A.R.E or SCASRO
